WINTER BIRDING WITH NYC AUDUBON
Tuesday, January 24th from 7:00am – 8:30am
Location: Starlight Park
Join NYC Audubon and the Bronx River Alliance on a stroll along the Bronx River this winter. You’ll get a chance to see and hear some of the many beautiful birds that rely on this important freshwater ecosystem, including songbirds, waterfowl, and more. Along the way, we will also highlight the importance of biodiversity and urban green space for all wildlife.
BRONX ZOO HOLIDAY LIGHTS
Friday, November 18th through Sunday, January 8th
Join us for a family holiday festival at the Bronx Zoo. During the evenings, the park comes to life with holiday cheer as immersive light displays, custom-designed animal lanterns and animated light shows sparkle across the zoo. The celebration includes festive entertainment, seasonal treats, the Holiday Train, and classic holiday music. The walk-through experience is a beloved tradition, enchanting and fun for all ages.

New York City’s Most Beloved Holiday Tradition Is Back!
NYBG’s Holiday Train Show—a favorite holiday tradition—has been making memories for over 30 years! See model trains zip through an enchanting display of more than 190 replicas of New York landmarks, each delightfully re-created from natural materials such as birch bark, lotus pods, and cinnamon sticks.
Plus, take in NYC’s largest outdoor holiday light experience at NYBG GLOW, returning for its third year with even more illuminated displays. Thousands of dazzling, energy-efficient lights and whimsical, picture-perfect installations reflect the surrounding gardens and collections, creating a spectacle not to be missed. These special evenings feature music, experiences, food, and more—making for the ultimate night out this season.

Everyone’s favorite train is returning to NYBG as the star of a mini-performance that families may enjoy during their next Garden visit. Driver Sam and his friends provide a fun-filled, interactive musical show where audience members are invited for photo-op with Thomas after the show.
NEW YEAR’S DAY SUPER HIKE
Sunday, January 1st from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Location: Van Cortlandt Nature Center
If your New Year’s resolution is to get healthy, join the Urban Park Rangers on a lengthy hike. Dress warmly, put on your hiking shoes, and head to the park. Urban Park Ranger hiking guides will introduce you to the hidden gems of New York City. Explore nature, discover our city’s urban forests, and unplug from the world to clear your head.

With 640 acres of forest and wetlands, Van Cortlandt Park could use your help!
For January Forest Fridays, we are focusing on caring for the the Northwest forest. Make sure to bundle up warm, wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, and bring some water! All other tools will be provided. No prior experience needed.
